New York City – NEW Wedding capital of U.S – taking Vegas title

October 4, 2007 10:17 pm

Las Vegas is a well be known as the quick wedding capital of the world. Where else to get married but Las Vegas, can you go to get married on a spur of the moment notice? Well, the answer is – New York City. You are probably asking yourself “New York City”? Oh, yes.

This is brand new idea from New York City Mayor Bloomberg. He proposed to take over the title away from Las Vegas and make New York City a NEW wedding capital of United States. Up to date all people trying to get married go and get married in city hall. Why not to attract more people to come to New York and get married. Local Fox 5 TV station provided a poll in Time Square to see what tourist say about this new idea. Reviews were mixed. People are not used to coming to NC and get married. But why not. What hasn’t been done in New York yet?

Lets try something new. Take over VEGAS. Lots of us are probably thinking its a crazy idea but why? Why not build a chapel in the middle of Time Square, have people walk in and just get married in 10 minutes in style just like in Vagas. I personally know at least 50 couples that got married in Vegas just to have a different experience with lets say Elvis Theme. Let’s build couple of these chapels in NYC so everybody makes money. Oh yes, its all about the money when it comes to New York City Weddings. City wants to attract more people to spend money here. Spend money on a wedding dress, flowers, New York wedding limousine, dinner and more. Now all these Europeans that want to experience spontaneous wedding don’t have to travel all the way to Vegas. They can save themselves a 6 hrs flight and experience New York City wedding.

Did you know that thousands of weddings are performed in Las Vegas every year? That number alone makes it easy to see why people may flock to New York for their wedding — and why not? In fact, it actually makes sense to have your wedding in New York. New York City is fun and exciting and if you invite your friends and family, there are plenty of things to do to keep them busy.

Planning a wedding can be a huge ordeal leading to disputes among your spouse-to-be and your family. Skip all the drama and head to the bright lights of New York City. But once you organize a New York wedding you will need a New York wedding limousine. While you at it, lets organize a small bachelorette party a night before that special day. And of course, you will need a limousine to do a little bar hopping. The only answer for your limousine needs is Royal Luxury Limousine – perfect wedding transportation for New York.

Last Minute Wedding Planning Secrets

How do you modernize the wedding meal?

Instead of the standard menu-appetizer, entree, you can serve multiple small plates, the way a tasting menu is done at a restaurant. It’s unexpected, so it builds excitement for the party. And since you’re serving more dishes this way, it’s easy to incorporate your taste and his.

Any other ways to make a menu fun?

One of our signatures is a trendy version of the traditional beef Wellington: seared tuna in a puff pastry, with a rich red-wine sauce. For dessert, you can dress up something that was significant in your childhood like Ring Dings and Twinkies.

What about drinks?

Granite cocktails! They’re icy, frozen versions of sangria, cosmopolitans or lemon drops just like a slushy. You can serve them in highballs or martini glasses. A bonus: Since they’re pretty thick, they don’t easily spill.

What’s a sneaky way to save on food?

If there’s an expensive item you really want to include, such as sushi or caviar, have it passed during the cocktail hour instead of serving it as a menu course or at a station. Passing trays of sushi or caviar-topped toast points gives your wedding a luxe feel, but the controlled quantity will end up costing you less.

Any other cost-cuffing ideas?

Consider a Thursday night wedding, especially in the summer. It’s a great party night-we’re seeing more and more couples interested in it-and vendors tend to offer reduced prices then.

What’s an easy way to make everyone at your wedding feel welcome?

Get as many photos with guests as possible; everyone loves to have their picture taken with the bride and groom. It’s a nice alternative to the receiving line-you can say hello and connect with everyone. Just be sure to ask your photographer in advance to take these candids. -Betsy Goldberg / J. Selden
