Last spring, Ford moved production of its limousines to Ontario after permanently closing its underutilized assembly plant in Wixom, Michigan. Last month, approx. 21,000 of the 2008 Lincoln Towncars produced at the St. Thomas assembly plant rolled off the line and are ready to be sold exclusively to limousine services. The plant which is also producing Crown Victoria, operates on the single shift and builds about 63 cars per hour. All models are flexible fuel vehicles capable of operating on E-85 percent enthanol fuel,. The production of these vehicles is good news to the 1500 workers at the assembly plant because it means a secure future for their jobs.
